Diversity
Arise from the depths,
oh soul,
Penetrate the surface!
With all heart, realize the stirrings of growth.
Pour out dreams and profess them.
Diversity is a celebration—
a flowing unity,
the singularity that states,
I am a valuable person,
and
the spirit that asserts
we stand as
kin.
My wonderful, thriving family–
generations of intercultural relatives, neighbors, and friends bound together by years of love, caring, and support.
The pooch at the end is a sweet touch to a moving poem.

The pooch is our Tessa. She’s very much part of the family. She’s especially popular with the kids. BTW–I found out today that I’m a great-aunt. Vince Tanner Russell was born yesterday!

This heartwarming post is a needed reminder for me that acceptance, love and celebration help to bring our diverse families together. It’s never too soon and never too late. Thanks Jo!

It’s so easy to take the people in our lives for granted, especially when we’re so separated by geography, time, age, emotion, even death. Sometimes it’s nice to celebrate them. I grew up in an intercultural, interfaith family that has grown. There are a number of people for whom I was unable to post photos. But I do think of them and the effects they’ve had on my life. We’re a diverse clan. What better time to raise them up than Passover and Easter?
